GO CYCLONES!

Postby Talenos » Nov 01 2011 12:01:21 pm

Looks like we get to possibly play West Virginia next year, if they get their clean break from the Big East. An odd choice, distance-wise, but a pretty good pickup I think.

Also, we certainly have it in us to lose to Kansas, but It's still going to be tough to go bowling when our best chance is beating KState. Although, if TTU can beat OU in Norman, maybe we could too?

Oklahoma pissing away multiple games in a season is pretty rare.

Iowa upsets Michigan, Northwestern upsets Nebraska in Lincoln, and ISU wins. Crazy weekend so far.

Game of the century shouldn't end with a score of 9-6.

Oh no, according to the media, the vast awesomeness of the two 2 defenses just rape and pillage any and all offenses that they meet and once again confirms the SEC as the end all be all of football.

Yeah, it was boring. OSU/KSU was 1000x times better.

so what's our best shot? Oklahoma or K-State?

TTech managed to beat Oklahoma and we've had close games with K-State in the past, plus they'd be the last shot for us to go bowling.

I'd say in order our best shots are
1) @KSU
2) @ OU
3) OSU

We'll see how well we do against OSU. I highly doubt we'll win (or have it close). If our offense gets hot like we did against TT, maybe we can keep it somewhat close

Our best chance was for OSU and KSU to beat each other up more. Sadly (for us) that didn't happen.

I'm hard pressed to decide our best chance. We have the best team at home, and on the road against the other two. OU had been lots better than KSU in my opinion (despite dropping that game to TTU), but they just lost their star receiver who was a big part of their offense. I'd say OU and KSU are roughly equals now, and our chances are about equally good (read, terrible) to win any of the 3 games.

Having a close game against any of those would be quite worthy of praise. The most likely scenario is unfortunately getting blown out three more times before the season is over.

I think winning at home against OSU is a more likely scenario than beating the Sooners on the road. But K-State is our best bet all around, I think.

Maybe there will be a big snow storm during the OU game. Seriously though all these teams will score a lot of points so it will take some major turnovers to pull off an upset.

A snow storm during the OSU game is about ISU's only hope for keeping that game close.

I've been trying to decide if this whole thing is a good thing or a bad thing for Nebraska. On one hand, this has no doubt been a major distraction to the coaches and players for preparations this week. On the other hand, it's still an important game in the schedule, and the first time they have faced Nebraska in conference so you know they'll be fired up. Add to that it just became Paterno's last home game of his career... And I think you could see some pretty determined players to go out with a big W for coach.

I hope Nebraska destroys them mercilessly. Not because I like Nebraska, they actually kind of suck this year. But just because they have it coming.

OSU wants to stay in the title race, so I don't see them showing much mercy. I think it will be closer than people think, but ISU will probably have at least 3 turnovers to screw themselves out of a chance.

So the BCS is considering only picking the championship and not the other big 4 bowls. At that point, why not just stop picking teams entirely?

The bowls are run by corrupt people, why not just get rid of them and do best 16 go to playoffs, with conference champs and any undefeated teams getting auto-bids?

Because the cities that host bowl games see a very large chunk of revenue during bowl season - I see similar issues with selection of the playoff locations - southern schools won't want to have playoffs in cold weather states - and if you go to a playoff, thats exactly what needs to happen - which is why it won't

The chance to win a championship you otherwise wouldn't have a chance at (teams now rated 3-16) wouldn't be incentive enough? Plus, you could potentially get higher payouts for each stage you advance to.

That was awesome tonight! I would had been satisfied if we kept it within 14 points, but to win?! Amazing!

I'm not sure if I believe in the "hangover" state after a big win, but if it does exist in any way, this would probably be the greatest chance of it happening :P But still, I'm proud to be alive and a Cyclone!

Now pray for LSU to lose so we are not subjected to a lame rematch that sucked the first time.
