Well, what's really not being said is that move is happening due to us basically getting removed from Okinawa due to unpopular local sentiment.

In that case, Fuck Japan/Taiwan unless they want to foot the bill.

I'm cool with being world police if they pay us for it. Might as well export our strengths.

That we don't need Guam for national defense? That's a no brainer. I still think it's a fucking retarded idea to rely on ICBMs for naval defense.

variety is good. i'm not suggesting icbms be our sole means of defense, just that they are pretty goddam effective at obliterating a navy, and a helluva lot faster than anything else available.

I honestly do think Taiwan/Japan will need help defending themselves against China. I just don't think we should pay for it.

Japan is only limited by their own pacifism. I don't care if Taiwan gets overrun.

As they are loading their tanks onto the amphibious transports, we chronosphere them to the middle of the ocean. Then lightning strike their Construction yard in a coordinated attack with a bombing run and nuke their navy. After that it becomes a cleanup operation with carriers, dreadnaughts, and a lot of harriers. No boots on the ground.

I never feel comfortable agreeing with Sherm, but the endless sprawl of US bases overseas is a serious problem. I don't think there is the political will, nor will there be, to do something about this absent some kind of catastrophe which forces us to reckon with it. The recently deceased Chalmers Johnson shared this opinion.

The definition of insanity. 9/11 was a catastrophe and didn't decrease our overseas involvement. Why would you believe this will be different in the future?

Where did I mention 9/11? Are you just making up responses on the fly to posts that don't exist? It's as if you're having a conversation with an imaginary friend.

Dr. Faustus cycle continues:

Step 1: Try to be civil, expecting a polite reaction.
Step 2: Cry when you don't get a expected reaction.
Step 3: Insult, Insult, Insult, Fuck you guys, I'm done trying.

At least RL starts with Step 3.
