Dao, you got lucky. I mean, given the circumstances, that was a major (minor) score.

But seriously, in real life and real potential dates, if you're not willing to cover her half of the Village Inn check, you suck. Suck fat balls. (edit: not that you do in this circumstance, but just think about it on real dates.)

And if she's offended, you can always say "hey, you get it next time."

edit: tried to soften my meanness.

Right. Village Inn wasn't a date. It was two people getting food together. And I still almost paid for it all.

I think it was probably the gut instinct that kicked in at the last second and made you not pay. Something must have felt weird to justify it.

I like the straightforward chat log. I'm curious to see what you'll end up with since you're cutting right to the chase. Removing the BS, uncertain persuit, and other games is a good strategy. However, part of the fun of meeting new women is that unsure anxiety about "does she like me? does she want to seriously see me?" If you play straight with everything on the table at all times, you'll be to the 'farting in front of each other and crapping with the bathroom door open' phase at record pace.

I'm fine with the uncertainty, but if a girl is seeing a guy steadily enough to refer to him as "the boy", then she's not single enough for me to keep trying to date her.

Yeah. And I tried to get that idea across with her. I didn't mean "come back when you've decided to date me exclusively", as in she had to choose 100% me right away. Just, you know, come back when you're not exclusive with someone else".

That's what I meant when I said this:
"If you are ever officially single and up for the idea of possibly dating, let me know. I think we have the potential for a real connection."

Rereading it, she seems to be under the impression that she is "officially" single. I should have said something like "truly" or something less ambiguous. But I think she got the idea. And I didn't say we had a big connection or any boo hoo like that. Just that it could work out.

Anyhow, them's my thoughts on that.

In other news

Last night one of these ladies I was talking to asked me what my status meant (Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? Not me, yet.) and I said it means "Who watches the watchmen? Not me, yet.) And she mentioned that she hasn't seen that movie yet either. Then said the last time she saw a movie was marly and me. Then we talked about the ending of that movie the dog dies. After the fact, I wonder. Was she fishing for an invite to the movie?

I would attend a nerdy gameboard party provided we play one of the following games:

A&A
Samurai Swords
Civ
SoC
Heroquest

I've never played samurai swords or heard about it.

A&A and Civ would take too long, I think. We try not to do epic games so we get variety and can mix it up. Lately we've been having enough people come that we split into 2 groups to play games since we have few 10-12 player games. Does SoC = Settlers of Catan? We play that on occasion. I need to get knights & cities, though.

Samurai Swords is pretty cool...epic wargame set in Feudal Japan. Part of the Milton Bradley Gamemaster series (A&A). Gameplay goes by pretty quick with 3+ players, especially if you are playing with someone experienced...setup + gameplay = 3 hrs tops.

SoC does = Settlers of Catan.

No Heroquest love?

3 hours gameplay is about 2 hours too long for what we like at these parties. Most of the invitees aren't that hardcore and definitely would not be back for the next one if we whipped out a 3 hour warsim.

Coming from a fratboy background, if you want to see boobs or whatever, you're approaching this at the wrong angle.

You have to start the night out with heavy drinking. Later on, you pull out a deck of cards and ask everyone to play Naked Slap Jack with you. Nobody knows the rules and asks what you mean. You just say, "It's like regular Slap Jack, but the first rule is we all have to get naked."

This game had a 92% chance of initiation when I was in college. Don't ask me why. It has something to do with the psychology of using the red herring card game to get drunk people to justify a reason to get naked and be horny around each other.

Positives: The game play is fast, and you get to see naked women.

Negatives: You have to put up with naked guys, and you're liable to get your weiner smacked overzealously, possibly by a drunk guy.

Not once did any of us ever think it'd work to pitch the idea of 'Naked Risk' or 'Naked Magic the Gathering'

There can't be any sort of complex rules, yet it's important to have a game involved, because for some reason, "Hey, lets all just get naked and sit around for no reason" had a 98% failure rate when attempted.

Naked Magic the Gathering...

You can all laugh at the guy who pops wood whenever someone plays a Serra Angel with the original art.

So on facebook I have an honesty box. Right now my question is

"You have a crush on me, don't you? Just say yes."

And some female (it color-codes the replies you get for gender) replied:

"yes. However, since you already know, I'm guessing this question isn't meant for me. :)"

Sounds flirty? Too bad it's anonymous.

pffft. it started before 10 and went on until well after 2. mighta been 3. the biggest problem was 1/2 of us were first time players and the the person who was the hidden cylon had never played before and knew nothing about the show. then when you draw again, she got the other cylon card, so molly was the only person to try and stop the rest of us, and it was really fucking lame. i can see how the game would be good with people who knew wtf was happening, and knew the show. probably 2-ish hour game time though.

There's some questions that just don't need to be asked.
"an old friend" isn't necessarily attractive. and i must have missed the part about him looking forward to it.

but seriously, yes, especially if there's a chance of getting laid.

and not something you go on a 'date' with to secure. If you're going to fuck an ugly chick, hook up with her after bar, or just drive over to her place and throw down. Taking her on a date is exactly synonymous to buying the shittiest stock you can find.

Daoist, just link people to your pizza/cheese bread argument thread in your dating profile. If they still want to associate with you after that, you're pretty much in. No other words needed.

Isn't it more fun to watch their faces when they realize what's going on though?

If you really want to find your soul mate, this is your best option. Any woman interested in you after reading that has got to be the one.
