I think maybe I've seen posts about online savings, but search was taking a long time. My husband and I are looking to try it out. I've looked at one called SmartyPig; you can save toward various goals and such. Have any of you had any experience with that site or others? How has it worked for you?

Beth and I both use SmartyPig. It use to be much more competitive with its interest rates which made it more attractive of an option back then. It's great for specific goals as you may have guessed but maybe not the greatest for general savings if you want to move money out and back from it very often.

Typically I search for interest rates on stuff using

I just use ING direct. Not sure if we'll stay after they go over to C0F.

Ditto. The rates have been terrible for the last few years, though.
