The thing about this show is the writers have limited themselves. No matter how terrible Walt and Skyler act as human beings, Walt Junior is innocent and untouchable, so certain conclusions such as Walt being taken down by the DEA, or becoming financially ruined, are ruled out. Next season will be about the tension between Hank and Walt, Hank will almost take Walt down but Walt will win, losing his family again in the process, and it will end with a look back on how shitty his life has become since moving down this path.

Also I give Gomez until the three quarter mark of the next season.

As long as Saul doesn't die, the writers can do whatever they fuck they want.

Saul is literally a god, the deus ex machina given life. Nothing will hurt Saul.

I started the episode wondering "What about Mike?", but after I saw Hector and the bomb I knew we wouldn't see Mike again this season.

I think it's a consequence of the fact that this season was delivered before they knew they were getting a season five. This had to be a way to end the series.

Every time I've had a long-term guesstimate about this show, the very next episode addressed it immediately.

By that rule, I think Gomez's head will be on a turtle at the start of S5.

Because this episode seemed to tie a bow on a lot of the drugs and crime stuff, I kinda figure season 5 will focus more on the law coming down on them and Jesse and Walt's relationship rather than cooking drugs. The FBI story with the ricin didn't add anything to the plot of the episode as a whole. In the vacuum of that episode, it was just a self contained little story. It doesn't seem like the creators would do this for no reason, so I assume the FBI will continue looking in their direction since they already have the chemical angle to be suspicious about. Meanwhile the DEA has a lot of suspicion now that Gus died with an ex cartel member who just agreed to meet with them, and the laundry they've been looking at burned up. Plus there's Ted's money situation. So there's several angles for the law to come down on them now.

So I figure the series' exit strategy will be the FBI and DEA closing in on them while Jesse finds out about Jane, Brock, and any other things Walt did behind his back. Maybe Mike and Jesse teaming up against Walt, something like that.

But I'd be pretty mad at this point if season 5 started up with Walt and Jesse cooking again on their own. It'd just be more of the same.

Just caught up. That two-faced Gus was pretty cool, but almost too perfect like mentioned. He practically knew it was coming.

Does seem like a series finale though. Don't know where they can take it, but hopefully they can pull a Dexter season 4 style revival or something.

J-Dogg wrote:So what was the deal with Gus taking that pill before greeting the Don? They made a point of showing him take it, so when they got all dramatic about the tequila, I figured it was poison and the pill must have been some poison neutralizer type chemical that Gus Mike and Jesse all took. But instead Gus just purged it and Mike and Jesse didn't drink it, so the pill didn't seem to be for anything.

The pill was to make him vomit later on, I think.

Late to the conversation (just finished season 4), but I just want to go on record as having thoroughly loved the Fring death scene, cartoonish as it was.
