Played through the beta content tonight, after the open beta weekend. Needs moar cutscene, and a send-to-village pet.

My level 9 demon hunter was neat, if perhaps a bit ranged-cheap with the auto-retargeting shots. Anyone else pre-purchase after sampling the goods?

I got into the beta just last week. So far I've played through as a monk, barbarian, and demon hunter. Most of the way through wizard too. DH definitely seemed overpowered, especially vs. the wizard. Penetrating shot and rapid shot? Ridiculous. I like that the gear is transferrable between characters but takes on a unique appearance for each class. Really fun, so I can't wait for the 15th. Already have the final downloaded and ready to install as soon as it becomes active.

Wizard seems the most gimped. I haven't played it in a while, but I was really surprised how well it handled lag. I turned up the graphics higher than I probably should have for my machine and it held out pretty well.

(2) is it actually worth $50 or whatever the price is? i'm usually loath to buy games right off the bat, i typically wait for price drops or GOTY editions. but Blizzard is usually less forthcoming with such discounts, eh?

Mine is ready to go for install. I'm really torn between a few classes, but thats pretty much par for me in these types of games. Thinking Demon Hunter, Monk, or Wiz (way to narrow it down, I know).

I played through the beta with all character classes. Barb seems overpowered. I will probably go with a Monk. I like the mix of assassin and paladin skills.

25 billion distinct builds per class (before Elective Mode) sounds deliciously varied. I'm excited.

Anyone know if the multiplayer limit's been confirmed for launch officially? Trying to decide how I will schedule my time amongst friends…

As for personal opinion, I fucking love this game. I want to squeeze it until it ejaculates and then suck up the dick loot. I am unfathomably gay for this game. The only reason I voted yesterday was because of a 1 hour maintenance.

It's more like Diablo 2.3123.

It's so clean and well thought out to remove player annoyances.

Things that are amazing improvements in gameplay:

If there's a big cutscene/corresponding fight, it pops up an acceptance message to sync all the players.
Unlimited/Free town portal system.
Player banners to instantly port to another player.
Quick Join/Friend Join.
Separated, private but shareable loot.
Shared health globs.

It may seem like all these things are trivial but they're really an evolution of an experience. I know a lot of people bitched that they wouldn't have a pet/mule but at least through act 2, you're a few seconds away from a town portal and complete access to shows/chest/disenchanting. They've done an amazing job of reducing game burden and downtime.

i typically hate upgrading gear and levelling up, but something about diablo2 was just presented so well that i enjoyed the hell out of it despite a strong dislike of the genre.

So I'm remembering what I disliked about D2, the thing is like crack to MMO players and they play non-stop. So everyone I know has outleveled me because I game a couple hours a night and then have other shit I'd rather do. I enjoy the game but not enough that it's all I want to do any evening, also my story go jacked up because I joined a friend a few levels ahead and it skipped me to some quest closer to him, I assumed it would let me go back and fight Leoric when I went back to playing alone (as I just kind of chatted with him) but no dice.

You can Select Quest at the time you're picking which hero to play. If you "downgrade" to earlier in the story, it'll reset the plotline to that point.

What time I have spent in single player feels empty/slowballed outside of the trap rooms & events. But that's okay, because I'm really playing solo to absorb the setting.

Also, your screen explodes with everyone constantly testing out "what's this ability+rune do?"

I'm going to lose at least an hour the first time I enable Elective Mode in the gameplay options and start min-maxing for real.
